Wout Muller (1946-2000, Hilversum) received his education at the GerritRietveld Academy in Amsterdam. His work mainly had an erotic character, but never became obsessive in this topic. The viewer is invited to have a loot at a décor of paradise in which female figures are displayed as static sculptures. His later work became less complex, more stable and more mysterious. Due to his position as lecturer at the Minerva Academy in Groningen, Muller received a well-known reputation in the Groninger figurative art scene. The last nine years of his life he lived in Ireland with his wife and worked from there. From Oktober 2008 till January 2009 the Drents Museum in Assen held a large retrospective on the paintings of Wout Muller.
